How To Look After Your Dental Implants

Your Aftercare

We take pride in offering the most comprehensive and informed treatment and care. From the initial free 45-minute consultation to the days, weeks, and months after your procedure, our duty is to provide you with top-quality care and attention.

Surgery Day

We are committed to providing you with comprehensive aftercare instructions to ensure a speedy recovery and successful outcome. These instructions will outline the necessary steps to take at different intervals following the surgery, as well as what to do in case of any issues. Rest assured, serious problems are very rare, but we will be there to assist you should any arise.

In addition, we will guide you on which foods to consume initially and gradually incorporate into your diet. As a general rule, you should be able to eat anything that can be easily cut with a fork immediately after receiving your new fixed teeth.

Four Week Review

At the 4-week mark after your surgery, we will conduct a follow-up appointment to assess your progress and healing. Following this appointment, your final prosthetic will be scheduled to be fitted in approximately 10 weeks.

3 Months

After 3 months from your surgery, we will fit your final prosthesis. This time allows for the implants to fully integrate with your mouth and heal completely. At this appointment, the final bridge that has been designed by our expert engineers, utilising the latest technological advancements and hand-crafted by our artisan technicians, will be fitted. The final bridge is even better than your initial set, reinforced, slimmer and more aesthetic!

We will also provide you with a Care Kit which includes a Waterpik water flosser, flossing brushes, and a Hygiene Manual that we will go through with you.

Routine Maintenance

We will provide you with guidance on the frequency of your routine maintenance appointments. During these appointments, we will conduct a thorough examination to ensure that:

  • The implant is stable and well-integrated
  • The prosthesis is not showing any signs of wear and tear
  • The supporting structures, including soft tissue levels and bone, are healthy
  • Extra and intra oral examination is carried out, including x-rays if necessary
  • Microscopic analysis of your prosthesis is conducted in our on-site lab, where necessary, to ensure a continued excellent fit
  • Your history is taken, and we discuss any concerns you may have since your last visit
  • Oral cancer screening is performed
  • X-rays are taken, if necessary, to check the health of the bone around the implants and report on the x-rays
  • We clean the implant interfaces and underneath the prosthesis with an air polisher
  • We remove any staining from the bridges if necessary
  • We inspect access covers and replace any that may be missing
  • We change the screws or re-torque the screws in the bridge if necessary
  • We provide you with oral hygiene advice regarding home care regimes to look after the implants, soft tissue, and prostheses

Please note that we only remove bridges if it is deemed clinically necessary. You may need to return for a separate chargeable appointment if oral hygiene dictates prosthetic removal.
